March Luncheon - Divorce and Trusts
Please join us for a pizza lunch to discuss Divorces and the Effects on Trusts and Estate Planning.
Networking starts at 11:30, and presentation starts at 12:00 at the Charlotte Community Foundation in Punta Gorda.
Our speaker will be Attorney PJ Downjok with the firm Downjok & Downjok, PA located in Venice.
PJ admitted started practicing in 2005 and know him as the Advancement Chairman for the Two River Council for Scouts BSA.
PJ also volunteers for the Child Protection Team, a subset of the Child Protection Center, Inc. in Sarasota which acts under the authority of the Florida Department of Health, which investigates and provides medical and psychological evidence in cases where child physical abuse, sexual abuse, abandonment, or neglect are suspected.
As well as volunteering for the Women's Resource Center, a non-profit dedicated to empowering women by providing education and services.
Topics of presentation will include,
-Marital agreements (prenups, post nups, settlement agreements)
-Requirements dealing with the elective share/estate.
-Intestate succession
-Pretermitted spousal rights.
-Estate maintenance exemptions
-Homestead
-Limits on prenups dealing with ERISA-qualified plans and 401(k)s.
-Revocable vs. Irrevocable trust
-Death of a party while divorce is pending, strategy for terminally ill parties.
